T Zed
Context:
T ZED is a picture perfect ensemble of time, space, contemporary thoughts, revolutionary technology and the best of architectural values. In 2009, it became the first residential building to be awarded the Platinum rating under IGBC Green homes rating system. This 5-acre gated community of 80 apartments, 15 homes and clubhouse campus has 2,50,000 sft of built up area. It incorporates sustainable design principles by combining alternate materials, water management, top soil conservation, air management and energy management.
Challenge:
Focus was on designing energy efficient spaces and educating the end user on the benefits of efficient sustainable luxury spaces. Meticulous choice of technology and materials allowed high levels of sustainability without spatial or aesthetic compromise.
Solution:
Project is LEED Platinum certified and was awarded the 11th Annual Global Innovator’s Award by CoreNet Global. The five standards of sustainability – air, water, waste, energy and biomass were the core factors driving the design and construction process. The finished spaces and mechanical systems have all been customized to accommodate these features. The CFC free AC system for the campus was custom-built to consume less energy. Nearly all the existing trees were untouched and a few of them replanted within the campus. Topsoil was conserved and open wells on the site were maintained for local residents’ water use.
