build upon that foundation while responding to the unique needs of a new market and team
The Challenge
As one of the world's leading reinsurers, SCOR has built a global presence spanning more than 150 countries. Built on a legacy of trust, resilience, and long-term partnerships, the organisation has cultivated a strong global presence alongside a culture that connects people across geographies.
Having previously partnered with SCOR to bring the OneSCOR culture to life through its Singapore workplace, we had first-hand experience translating the organisation's values, ways of working, and sense of community into a meaningful workplace experience. When SCOR established its first office in India, the opportunity was to build upon that foundation while responding to the unique needs of a new market and team.
More than creating another workplace, this was a chance to extend the OneSCOR story into India and create a destination where the culture could be experienced every day. As the organisation's sole workplace presence in the country, the Mumbai office would become far more than a place to work. It would be where employees forged relationships, where visitors formed their first impressions of the brand, and where the values that define SCOR's global identity would take on a physical form.

a series of experiences that would continuously strengthen the connection between people, culture, and brand
The Solution
The design journey began with a simple but powerful belief: people connect with organisations through experiences, not spaces.
Rather than approaching the workplace as a collection of desks, meeting rooms, and amenities, the design strategy focused on creating a series of experiences that would continuously strengthen the connection between people, culture, and brand.
From the moment someone arrives, the workplace is designed to feel different from a traditional corporate office. The reception does not act as a formal boundary between visitor and organisation. Instead, it unfolds into a welcoming lounge environment that immediately communicates openness, warmth, and accessibility. The intention was to make people feel invited into the culture rather than introduced to the company.
This idea of human connection is carried forward through one of the workplace's most meaningful moments: a display installation featuring artefacts and objects collected through employees' personal experiences. More than a design feature, it transforms the workplace into a reflection of the people who shape it. Employees see their identities represented within the environment. Visitors encounter stories rather than symbols. The workplace begins to feel less like a corporate setting and more like a shared community.
At the centre of the office sits a flexible coworking and townhall space that acts as the social heart of the workplace. While its function is adaptable, its purpose remains constant: bringing people together. Whether supporting informal collaboration, team interactions, knowledge sharing, or larger gatherings, the space creates opportunities for connection that extend beyond scheduled meetings. It becomes a physical manifestation of the OneSCOR culture, encouraging visibility, accessibility, and collective engagement.
The surrounding workplace ecosystem was carefully designed to support a wide spectrum of employee needs. Meeting rooms, phone booths, and a dedicated library provide spaces for focus and privacy, ensuring that flexibility is not achieved at the expense of productivity. Employees can move seamlessly between collaboration and concentration, choosing environments that best support the work at hand while remaining connected to the broader workplace community.
The cafeteria plays an equally important role in this journey. Positioned as a destination rather than an amenity, it was designed to encourage the informal interactions that often strengthen workplace culture. Defined by a distinctive ceiling feature, warm lighting, and welcoming social settings, it creates an environment where conversations happen naturally and relationships develop organically.
Brand expression throughout the workplace was approached with similar intentionality. Rather than relying on overt corporate branding, the design integrates SCOR's identity into the everyday experience of the space. Brand colours are used thoughtfully as accents, while interactive team walls and a global presence map reinforce employees' connection to the wider organisation. At the same time, subtle regional references celebrate local diversity, creating a workplace that feels globally aligned while remaining rooted in its Mumbai context.
Every element, every space, and every interaction point was ultimately designed to address the same challenge that defined the project from the beginning: helping people feel connected.

workplace where brand, people, and experience come together to create a lasting sense of belonging.
The Result
The completed workplace succeeds because it achieves far more than operational efficiency or aesthetic appeal. It transforms SCOR's Mumbai office into a tangible expression of the OneSCOR culture.
Employees experience a workplace that supports how they work while continuously reinforcing a sense of belonging. Collaboration feels natural, community feels visible, and the culture becomes something that is experienced daily rather than communicated through statements or policies.
For visitors and clients, the workplace creates an immediate understanding of who SCOR is. The environment communicates professionalism and global credibility, but does so through warmth, openness, and authenticity rather than corporate formality.
Most importantly, the office delivers on the challenge that inspired the project from the outset. It creates meaningful connections between people and place, between local teams and global culture, and between the organisation and everyone who interacts with it.
The result is a workplace that does not simply house the OneSCOR culture-it actively brings it to life. A workplace where brand, people, and experience come together to create a lasting sense of belonging.
