design a workplace that mirrored its bold mission in healthcare—one that empowered people, strengthened culture, and drove innovation
The Challenge
Siemens Healthineers has long been synonymous with groundbreaking medical technology. As their innovations continued to shape healthcare outcomes across Asia, their Singapore office faced a quiet yet pressing dilemma: the physical workspace was no longer keeping pace with the company’s purpose.
While the team was growing in impact and diversity, their workspace remained rooted in an outdated, fixed-desk format—efficient in the past, but limiting in a world now driven by agility, collaboration, and hybrid engagement. Most critically, the space didn’t reflect the human-centric vision Siemens Healthineers stands for.
This wasn’t a question of aesthetics. It was a strategic inflexion point. How could Siemens Healthineers design a workplace that mirrored its bold mission in healthcare— one that empowered people, strengthened culture, and drove innovation ?

The Solution
Siemens Healthineers partnered with Space Matrix to address this challenge through a holistic and people-first design strategy. Our approach focused on four pillars:
Well-being and human performance as foundational design drivers
Agility and adaptability to support evolving modes of work
Seamless, intuitive collaboration enabled by smart spatial planning and tech integration
A sense of identity and purpose embedded into the physical space
Change management was central to this journey. Through strategic workshops, the team was guided to embrace new behaviours and expectations around hybrid work, empowering them to engage with the space in new, more intentional ways. The design was not about aesthetic trends—it was about solving for real human needs.
A Workplace that Works for People
The Social Core
At the heart of the office lies the Work Café—a dynamic, hospitality-inspired space that fosters connection and informal collaboration. With flexible furniture, soft lighting, and discreet tech integration, it supports everything from one-on-one coffee chats to all-hands meetings. The result is a cultural anchor where people come together organically.
Flexible Work Zones
Every area was purpose-built to balance focus, collaboration, and movement:
Bookable team zones enable planned teamwork while offering the option of privacy
Freestanding booths and touchdown points offer moments of concentration or quick syncs
Tech-enabled meeting rooms support seamless collaboration across global teams
This modular, non-linear approach ensures that no matter the task, employees have the environment to perform at their best.
Brand and Culture in the Details
The workplace is also a subtle but powerful canvas for brand storytelling. Local materials, regional design elements, and brand-inspired messaging are woven throughout the office—reinforcing both global purpose and local pride.
