design a space that’s unmistakably Synechron—engineered, precise, globally consistent—while also being neutral and adaptable
The Challenge
Over the last decade, Space Matrix has partnered with Synechron through several phases of growth, helping bring their global workplace vision to life. So when they approached us once again—this time to reimagine their Pune office—the brief was rooted in evolution.
But this evolution came with a unique challenge: How do you design a space that’s unmistakably Synechron— engineered, precise, globally consistent— while also being neutral and adaptable enough to house other companies as an ODC (Offshore Development Center)?

preserve the discipline Synechron is known for, while making space for transformation and future adaptability
The Solution
To solve this, we didn’t abandon the existing design language—we deepened and expanded it. We approached every element with a question: How can we preserve the discipline Synechron is known for, while making space for transformation and future adaptability?
The Cafeteria: A Cultural Pivot
To infuse a distinct local flavour, we took inspiration from Pune’s iconic Irani cafés. The result is a cafeteria that feels both nostalgic and new—a space that brings warmth, humanity, and a touch of old-world charm into the corporate fabric. It’s not just a place to eat—it’s the social heart of the office. This hub bridges Synechron’s global brand with its Indian roots, creating a dynamic zone for informal collaboration and spontaneous conversation.
Modularity Meets Matrix: A Workspace Engineered for Choice
True to Synechron’s DNA, the spatial logic follows a clear matrix:
Enclosed rooms are placed along the façade, in line with the company’s existing architectural norms
Open workpoints fill the floorplate, evenly distributed for accessibility and equity
Project Scrum and focused pods offer layers of choice—for deep work, agile teamwork, or casual discussion
This intelligent layout enables seamless transitions between individual and team-based modes of work. At the same time, a significant portion of the floorplate has been designed as modular ODC spaces—reflecting Synechron’s brand aesthetics while maintaining a neutral, flexible environment. These spaces are future-proofed, allowing them to be easily reconfigured or leased to other companies, without requiring substantial redesign.
Aesthetic Discipline with Subtle Personality
The material palette speaks softly but with intention. Warm neutrals provide a grounded base, while selective infusions of Synechron’s brand colours add rhythm and energy. The aesthetic is deliberate and cohesive—distinct enough to reflect Synechron’s identity, yet understated to support multi-tenant flexibility when required.

a workplace that reflects Synechron’s precision while embracing human experience
The Result
The completed Synechron Pune office is more than a new workplace—it’s a spatial strategy for the future. It successfully bridges past and present, structure and fluidity, brand fidelity and business flexibility. By addressing the central design challenge—how to evolve a strong brand expression into a flexible, scalable environment—we created a workplace that reflects Synechron’s precision while embracing human experience. This space stands as a landmark in Space Matrix's shared journey with Synechron—proof that even the most engineered environments can hold space for imagination, identity, and future-ready agility.
